TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - With the season's first real taste of snow upon us, people in the Valley are taking notice.

Now folks are out shopping for things to keep them warm all winter long.

More snow is in the forecast so you're going to want to make sure you have your your warm gloves and your shovel handy in case you need to dig yourself out of your driveway.

Managers at the Terre Haute Menard's said they've seen a big jump in business just this weekend as folks get ready for more snow.

"We've seen people come in," said Menard's Assistant Manager Shaun Dunning. "They're starting to get the ice melt, snow shovels, hand warmers because they're outside, gloves, winter hats, coats.  All of that's picked up right now."

Folks are stocking up on big things, like snow blowers, and smaller things, like lock de-icer, and everything in between.

"Usually to get ready, you know, we keep the shovel on hand," said Terre Haute resident Amy Frederick. "Keep ice-melt on hand just so we can keep the stairs clear and things like that."

Whether you're shoveling snow off your driveway or scraping ice off your windshield, you'll also need things to just keep you warm.

"Try to wear the nice fluffy socks to stay warm," said Frederick. "Keep gloves and hats and scarves with us as well."

It's also a good idea to keep blankets or extra coats in your trunk in case the weather gets the best of your car.

Take just one look at the forecast and you'll see, winter weather is here.
