TERRE HAUTE, Ind (WTHI) - Friday was the deadline for Vigo County departments to hand in their budget to the auditor's office.
Several departments could not meet the deadline. This comes after the Vigo County council has asked each department to slash their budgets by 15 percent due to a loss in revenue
Some departments say they are having problems trimming the fat, since they have previously signed contracts.
Departments needing more time received an extension until June 30. If adjustments can not be made changes may be on the way.
"We are dealing with less revenue and rising costs and the choice is going to come down to less services," Vigo County auditor Tim Seprodi.
All department budgets are expected to be adopted this September.
