TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - News 10 aired a story back in October about a Fisher Price Cuddle and Coo doll that says something that sounds to a lot of people like "Islam is the Light."
On Monday we ran a story on the Nintendo game Baby Pals that makes the same sound.
We've received a lot of feedback from folks, some saying they also think the game says "Islam is the Light," others telling us we're anti-Muslim, which couldn't be further from the truth.
One viewer, Colby Rogers, wrote in, "Is your news team just looking for any way to paint Muslim people in a bad light? Would you have reported on this story if the baby said "Jesus Christ is Lord" instead?"
We absolutely would have.
The problem isn't with the phrase "Islam is the Light," if that is what the game says, or with the religion.
The problem one mother, and many others, had is with what seems to be a hidden message inside their kids' toys.
Another viewer, Daniel Malmer, wrote, "Does it really make sense that a major toy manufacturer would release a toy that says "Islam is the light?""
We can't speak for the manufacturers, but we have had a difficult time reaching them.
Nintendo issued a statement that read, in part, "...Nintendo isn't the publisher of the game. Questions regarding Baby Pals are best addressed by the game's publisher, Crave Entertainment."
We've been calling Crave Entertainment for days, and have yet to receive a call back.
