TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Between Nov. 3 and Dec. 7, folks are invited to send a "Touch of Home" to service members and their families to show their appreciation.
Cards are then boxed and shipped by Red Cross volunteers.
Organizers say one card could make all the difference to someone serving overseas over the holidays.
"Our military families make a great sacrifice on our behalf," Carol Stevens of the American Red Cross said. "Find ways, not only during the holiday season but throughout the year, to continue reminding them that we truly recognize and appreciate their sacrifices."
The Wabash Valley chapter of the American Red Cross will be collecting cards from the public on Veteran's Day, November 11, at three locations:
Terre Haute, IN
Red Cross Terre Haute Chapter Headquarters
700 South Third Street
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Greencastle, IN
Red Cross office, located in the back of the courthouse annex
3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Paris, IL
First Baptist Church Reed Fellowship Hall
3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Before and after Nov. 11, the public can address and send cards
directly to:
Holiday Mail for Heroes
PO Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
All cards must be postmarked by Dec. 7, 2009.
