TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Students at Meadows Elementary School experienced Moroccan culture with diversity day.

They dressed in traditional clothing, got temporary henna tattoos and played games. They also sampled the local cuisine.

An international student from Indiana State University organized the event. She wanted to show the kids what life is like in her home country.

"Try to open their minds to different cultures different beliefs and different traditions. What we do back home," Layla Elamran said.

Friday, the fifth graders get an amazing opportunity to speak with students in Morocco through a video conference.

They can ask the students questions about living in Morocco, and tell them about life in America as well.
