TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - When library branches at Meadows, Plaza North and Southland closed, folks around the Wabash Valley were left with two choices: West Terre Haute, and Terre Haute's main location near 7th and Poplar Streets.

Now, Governor Daniels' budget proposes a 15 percent cut to state library funding.

Library administrators said the funding cuts will affect the state library only, not local libraries. The state library provides services to libraries around the state, including the Wabash Valley's two remaining branches.

But administrators said these state cuts will not lead to local cuts.

"Dont be alarmed, this is not a cut to local public libraries," said the library's executive director Nancy Dowell.

Indiana's budget deadline is June 30.
