Sony announces 35 layoffs

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A major manufacturer has taken steps to lay off dozens of workers.

Sony DADC announced it will lay off 35 workers from its Terre Haute plant. The business currently employs more than 1,400 workers.

The layoffs are scheduled to go into effect on Oct. 1.

In a statement, Sony said they are laying workers off as "part of their continued efforts to establish and sustain cost-effective operations to remain competitive in an ever challenging economic landscape."
