Sheriff deputy lifelined to hospital

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) - A sheriff's deputy was taken to a hospital Thursday following an accident in Clay County.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m Thursday in front of the Brazil Great Dane Trailers.

Indiana State Police said 76-year-old Franklin Sullivan, of Terre Haute, drove into the path of 58-year-old Deputy Ron Keen, of Carbon, Ind.

Deputy Keen was on duty at the time and was lifelined to Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police said Keen was not wearing a seatbelt.

Keen is the assistant jail commander and a four year veteran of the department. He is also the Carbon Town Marshal.

Sullivan was cited for failing to yield. He refused medical treatment at the scene.
