EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WTHI) - The Rosebud Theatre, known for acts like Willie Nelson and Rodney Carrington, is set to close Dec. 5. But city officials may step in to keep the struggling entertainment venue alive.
They said keeping the doors open will bring more traffic and money to the area.
"The city sees this as an important piece of culture in the city of Effingham, and we would hate to lose it, so actually the council is looking at every alternative," Effingham Mayor John Lange said.
Mayor Lange said the city should know by Dec. 1 if the Rosebud Theatre will remain open.
The theatre employs more than 80 staff.
