TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Parke County's new crime tracking system, Odyssey, is an electronic database that tracks all criminal and civil cases filed in Parke County.

Proponents said the technology also allows members of the Indiana State Police to write tickets electronically, saving time and taxpayer money.

The computer system will eventually be used in all Indiana trial courts to link information.

For example, judges will be able to check for pending cases against criminals anywhere in the state.

"To go from really the 19th century way of doing things to the 21st century way of doing things in one fell swoop is extremely gratifying," said Frank Sullivan of the Indiana Supreme Court.

Officials said it should take four to five years to implement the system statewide.
