TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Many people use a fan to cool off during hot summer days.

In the past, those needing energy assistance could turn to the Western Indiana Community Action Agency. Last year, they handed out more than 200 fans to those who needed them.

This year, the state of Indiana did not have any funding for the program.

"There are a lot of people out there in need. We just aren't going to be able to help them. We refer them to other places, but a lot of them say they are out of money too," energy assistance director Marlene Swan said.

Swan suggested that those looking for a fan ask their church or local trustee.
