TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Vigo County school received some green for going green.
Dixie Bee Elementary was awarded a check for $300 Tuesday, thanks to their recycling efforts.
Terre Haute's south side Wal-Mart gave the school the money and a pizza party for the class who brought in the most recyclables. In total, the school brought in 400 large bags of recyclables.
"Four-hundred huge bags that are about five foot tall filled with plastic that would have went in our landfills that's going to be recycled and reused now," Wal-Mart manager Gary Francis said.
Wal-Mart is already working with another Wabash Valley school to kick off another recycling competition.
