TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Insurance Services Office rates the quality of fire protection across the country. They give fire departments a rating on a scale from one to ten, where one represents the best protection offered to the public.

As of March 1, the Honey Creek Fire Department is a class four, which is in the top 14 percent of all fire departments in the country.

"Everyone's thrilled about it. It's a great accomplishment. It just shows that the protection is there. If you call 911, we have the protection," fire chief Jean Frankel said.

The Honey Creek Fire Department said they are just shy of class three, and are always looking to improve and enhance their service to the community.
