TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The latest book by Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling, flew off shelves Thursday

Folks in the Wabash Valley lined up to get their copy just in time for Christmas.

Rowling's new book, Tales of Beedle the Bard, isn't a continuation of the Harry Potter series. It is a take off something that happened during the last of the seven book series.

Previous Harry Potter books, and the movies based on them, have repeatedly broken sales records worldwide. Bookstores are expecting the newest in the Harry Potter collection to be the number one selling book, and one of the biggest sellers overall, this Christmas.

"The reaction has been huge," said Waldenbooks manager Libby Edington. "Just an extra gift under the tree and the stocking. It's a great size for a stocking."

Wabash Valley shoppers were out on the book's opening day, waiting to get their copy.

"I bought the Harry Potter book," said shopper Von Meeks. "My daughter is a big Harry Potter fan, so she's been waiting for the new book to come out."

Book store employees tell us this holiday must-have isn't just for kids in your family.

"People ages 8 to 80 read these books," said Edington.

Even parents say they're wrapped up in tales from the wizarding world.

"I've read a couple of them," said Meeks. "They're pretty good."

Don't be surprised if this year Santa adds to the magic of Christmas with another tale about the world of Harry Potter.

The new book retails for $12.99.

Proceeds will be donated to charity.
