GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - In February 2008, six-year-old Christopher Stevenson was in the car with his family on County Road 400 when it was hit by a train. He died two weeks later.
Since then, his great grandmother, Teddy Harmon, has worked with INDOT to improve railroad safety on county roads.
All her hard work paid off. She recently found out flashing lights and crossing gates will be installed where her grandson was hit.
"When they called me and told me they were doing that this summer, I was thrilled," said Harmon.
Harmon said her work has just begun. She'd also like to see the road raised so folks can see if a train is coming before reaching the tracks.
