TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - One local couple turned their hobby of gardening into their full time job to fight a bad economy.
Luke and Brenda Anderson sell their produce at the Terre Haute Farmers Market.
"We always wondered if we could make it with me quitting my job and it really has gone well this year," Brenda Anderson said.
As people cut back at the grocery store, the Anderson's saw it as an opportunity for this to be their main source of income.
The Anderson's said with products cheaper for them and more people buying fruits and vegetables at the market, it's produced a good profit for them.
However, they aren't the only one's taking advantage of the farmers market, the vendors have more than doubled in size this year.
The farmers market grew to around 30 vendors throughout the season.
The Farmers Market is beginning to wind down for the year. It's expected to end around the last Saturday in October.
