TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The NAACP celebrated its 100th anniversary. State-wide officials came to Terre Haute.

As they celebrate, most of their officials are looking into the future.

"I really would like to see NAACP step into the local community and help Blacks and Whites and Asians, everyone pretty much mingling together," Ebony Roberts, Indiana's NAACP Youth President said.

"We are not an organization of just African Americans. We represent all people of color, and we believe that white people are people of color as well," Barbara Bolling, Indiana's NAACP President said.

Meanwhile, local officials said they are very happy the state decided to have the meeting in the Wabash Valley.

Friday was the kick-off to the event. The convention will continue over the weekend.
