TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Smokers all over the U.S went cold turkey.

Thursday was the 33rd annual Great American Smokeout.

The smokeout is a day put on by the American Cancer Society, challenging smokers to put away nicotine for one day. Local hospitals and clinics played their part by offering help to those who want to participate.

The American Cancer Society said that they want to make America smoke free.

If you want to quit smoking or make your business smoke free the American Cancer Society can help. For more information, contact your local American Cancer Society office.
