Boat capsizes, leaves one dead

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - One man is dead and another is recovering after a boat capsized.

Rescuers got a call around 7:00 a.m. that a boat had tipped over on the Turtle Creek Reservior, located at the Merom Power Plant.

A 61-year-old man from Rensselaer was found holding onto the motor and he was rescued.

The other man, a 42-year-old from Hammond, was found unresponsive in the water. He was taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital where he later died.

DNR officials said neither man was wearing a life jacket.
