TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - An accident Friday morning claimed the life of an Illinois man.
The accident happened along U.S. 41, just south of Sullivan.
Police said 26-year-old Matthew Heleine, of West Union, Ill., drove into the back of a tanker truck that was stopped at a railroad crossing.
There were skid marks on the road, where police said it appears as though Heleine attempted to stop before hitting the truck.
The southbound lanes of U.S. 41 were closed at the accident site for a short time this morning.
The driver of the tanker truck was not injured.
