News 10 has confirmed that officials have arrested Sarah Pender, a convicted murderer, who had escaped from the Rockville Correctional Facility in August.
Sources say Pender is in custody in the Cook County Jail in Chicago, Il. They are not releasing any other details about her arrest, or which police agency arrested Pender.
Pender was serving a 110 year prison sentence in the Rockville Correctional Facility in Parke County Indiana for a double murder in Indianapolis.
In August, Scott Spitler Sr., who was a correctional officer at the prison, was arrested for helping her escape. Authorities say Spitler Sr. used an Indiana Department of Corrections vehicle to sneak Pender out of the facility. Spitler Sr. was hired as a correctional officer in May 2003.
Police say Pender then got into another vehicle outside of the prison driven by Jamie Long, who was later arrested for aiding an escaped inmate. Long pleaded guilty to the crime in September and was sentenced to seven years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Pender has been showcased nationwide on America's Most Wanted. She had been added to the 15 most wanted fugitive list.
News 10 will bring you more details as they become available.
