ROCKVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - Wabash Valley authorities busted a meth lab on the same street as a school and the Parke County Sheriff's office, which is near one of the busiest intersections in Rockville.

At the corner of U.S. 41 and Howard, authorities said there was a lot more than just traffic flowing to the nearby Covered Bridge Festival.

"Most of the time, they are at least out in the county, but this is pretty brazen," Parke County Sheriff Mike Eslinger said.

Deputies came to the house Monday afternoon after they say 34-year-old Trevor Brant bought ingredients used to make meth at a local pharmacy. When deputies arrived, one saw an active lab in the basement. They then arrested Ronda Church; her daughter, Brittany Gilbert; Church's boyfriend, Brant; and Gilbert's friend, Bryan Kanedy.

"Other than Trevor I'm not sure who was actually involved with the cooking process. We know he was. But I don't know how you can stay in the house like that and not be aware of what was going on," Eslinger said.

The house is just 300 feet away from Rockville Junior-Senior High School and that makes the charges more serious.

"That kicks it up to an A felony, which is a pretty serious violation," Elsinger said.

Each of the four individuals has been charged with manufacturing meth near a school. They remain in jail on a $100,000 bond.

Eslinger said without the tips from the public, these people may never have been caught. He added this shows the need for a statewide system to track the sale of products that can be used to make meth.
