PUTNAMVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Wabash Valley prison has received thousands for new video surveillance system.

The Putnamville Correctional Facility said Monday officers will no longer have blind spots when it comes to watching prisoners.

The State Budget Committee approved the $390,000 for a new video surveillance system.

Cameras will be installed mostly in dormitories in the next four to six months.

This request comes after violence spiked in recent months between inmates and staff.
