Man arrested for online scam

POLAND, Ind. (WTHI) - An internet scam has landed an Owen county man behind bars.

Police said 26-year-old Dustin Weddle, of Poland, is behind several Internet-based scams.

A victim notified the Owen County Sheriff's Department after renting a home through an online ad. The victim paid rent for the home, then discovered it was already occupied by owners who had not offered to rent the home. Officials said there were multiple victims involved in the scam.

Weddle was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft and criminal mischief. Police believe he was behind this online scam and several others.
