PARIS, Ill. (WTHI) - An lllinois county is looking to technology to help save your life during an emergency.
After emergency sirens like these failed in the past, the Edgar County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency got in touch with technology.
The electronic alert system targets specific areas in the county, whether it's the whole city of Paris or just one street.
The computer will send the warning out and 3,000 messages can be sent in just one minute. These messages can be sent to your cellphone as a text or voicemail, to your landline phone, or even e-mail.
Edgar County residents can register for this free county alert in person at the emergency services office or online .
