Small town booming with businesses

ODON, Ind. (WTHI) - While some towns are struggling to stay afloat during this recession, Odon, Indiana has over a hundred new jobs and businesses heading it's way.

The small town of 1,500 is doing better than ever with around 150 new jobs.

Parkview Village assistant living is just one of the latest additions. The $4 million project was completed in May.

Casey's General store is another new business being constructed, along with six new contractors locating in Odon. Contractor companies working for Crane Industries.

President of Odon's Business Association said the town has grown more in the last year and half than ever before.

"They're surprised and they want to know how we do it. Once again, I think it's just a lot of it's location, we're in a good spot, we're isolated enough," President of the Business Association Dr. Doug Scudder said.

Town council members said their goal is to produce 300 more jobs in the next two to five years.
