TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Money has been granted to help beautify Terre Haute.

The Federal Highway Administration awarded Terre Haute $365,000.

The money will be used to landscape medians on Third St. Terre Haute will be responsible for matching 20 percent of that money to complete the project.

The first section of the project that will be enhanced will fall between Cherry and Walnut Streets.

"We got a lot of traffic on third Street that comes through the city of Terre Haute. And that first impression again and that gateway into our downtown area, our government center that's here. It's pretty important to make that look attractive," Director of Public Affairs Darrel Zeck said.

Unfortunately, the beautification project will not start until 2012.
