MIDLAND, Ind. (WTHI) - Police in Midland, Ind. are looking for answers to a senseless shooting.

Police said a 16-month-old boy was shot to death on one of the town's streets while being pushed in a stroller by his father. The shooting happened around 8:15 p.m. Sunday and authorities still have as many questions as answers.

Authorities said the boy's father, Ronald Bohannon, was pushing his son, Travis, in a stroller when he heard a gunshot and then realized his son had been shot.

Police closed off several blocks in Midland. The street where the shooting happened brought officers from several departments.

"We don't know if it was accidental at this point or if it is intentional. The investigation is ongoing to determine that," Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce said.

Police said they are following several leads, but they have no suspects.

"This is a tragedy. It's something we don't deal with a lot here. So this is something they're going to take very seriously and go very carefully," Pierce said.

Neighbors said they didn't know the family well, but they cannot believe that a child was killed

"It's sad. It's the world we're living in right now. It's incredibly evil and terrible and people have to look out for each other and just hope and pray that people stop and think before they do stupid things," neighbor Randall Tucker said.
