MARTIN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Asouthern Indiana county has cleared the way for more expansion at the tech park near the Crane Naval Weapons Center.

Officials in Martin County have approved the tax break for a new $4 million building that will bring 30 to 60 more jobs into the Westgate at Crane Tech Park.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in a few weeks with the building to be finished in six to eight months.

"We are calling it a sustainment center, which will house electro-optics for the base," Dale Ankrom of the Westgate Development Co. said. "It is not fully leased at this time, but we are working toward that end."

'We're practically the only area in the state that is hiring and according to all the predictions that might go on for some time yet," Westgate at Crane Authority Don Bowling said.

In less than four years of existence, the tech park has become home to more than 400 jobs for contractors providing services to the Crane Naval Weapons Center.
