Inmates attempt escape through shower

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Two men are facing additional charges after the discovery of a potential jail break.

Officials said 36-year-old Brian Ashcraft, of Worthington, Ind., and 21-year-old Scott Sozzi of Linton, Ind., face two charges of criminal mischief.

The charges stem from damages found at the Greene County Jail.

The two allegedly worked to remove a shower plate and access a hole leading to the mechanical room. Once inside that room, Ashcraft and Sozzi would have access to a door taking them out of the jail.

Officials discovered the damage after the two broke a water line and another inmate reported the noise.
