GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A fire at the Greene County Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield has forced the facility to close.
The fire began as an electrical failure that spread through the attic and damaged about a dozen rooms.
Forty patients have now been sent to their home counties, where some have landed back in jail.
The owner said he has no plans to reopen to facility.
"We'll probably button this thing up and call it done, and put a for sale sign on it somewhere," Gus Matthias of the Greene County Rehab Center said.
The Bloomfield Town Council meets later this week. The council intends to discuss ways of enticing the owner to reopen the center.
