GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Police arrested the father of a toddler killed this weekend in southern Indiana.
On Sunday, 16-month-old Travis Bohannon died at the Greene County Hospital after being shot in the head. Now, authorities in Greene County have arrested his father, Ronald Bohannon.
Bohannon was picked up on two counts of receiving stolen property in connection with a case in Vigo County. Police have still filed no charges in connection with the child's death.
About the only thing police and the prosecutor in Greene County are saying out loud is that the investigation into Travis Bohannon's death is ongoing.
Police said that Ronald Bohannon told them Sunday night that he had been walking little Travis in a stroller, heard gunfire and then saw the boy had been shot.
Sources now tell News 10 the story has changed. Those sources said Bohannon has talked with police and made a statement implicating himself in the shooting.
In addition, authorities have now recovered a gun from near the scene of the shooting. That weapon is being checked to see if it was involved in the boy's death.
Police and the prosecutor both declined to talk about the latest developments in case. The Greene County coroner ruled Travis died as the result of a homicide.
