Ronald Bohannon, 29, is now being charged in connection with the shooting death of his 16-month-old son, Travis Bohannon.
The boy died Sunday night of a gunshot to the head.
Initial charges against the baby's father, include reckless homicide, pointing a firearm, possession of a handgun without a permit and with a prior felony conviction, false informing and obstruction of justice.
Ronald Bohannon is in the Greene County Jail and his bond has been set at $50,000. He appeared in court on Thursday and his trial date is set for Jan. 26.
His original story to police was that he was pushing his son in a stroller down the street in Midland, Ind. He told police he heard gunshots, looked down and saw his son had been hit by a stray bullet.
Bohannon was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant in Vigo County for receiving stolen property.
