DAVIESS CO., Ind. (WTHI) - Asouthern Indiana county has landed a stimulus project to improve safety on one of its busiest roads.

Crews are busy along a four mile stretch of the Odon-Cannelburg Rd. in Daviess County.

The work is part of a $300,000 project to widen, re-surface, and improve the road through the heart of the county's Amish country.

Officials said the road improvements are something they've been trying to do for years.

"We've been working on it six or seven years and it's just a very narrow road and it's really busy," Daviess County Commissioner Tony Wichman said. "Traffic count is terrible."

The project is due to be completed by the end of November.

Meanwhile, county officials are looking for more funding to try and make improvements to all of the roadway.
