COLES COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Police in Coles County, Ill. are investigating the death of a two-year old boy. The suspect said it was an innocent game of wrestling.

Authorities said 29-year-old Jamie Thomasson, of Springfield, was babysitting two-year-old Holden Jones, of Charleston.

Police said the boy died Sunday morning from serious injury to the brain and spinal cord caused by shaking and impact. They said Thomasson was the mother's boyfriend.

After realizing the child was hurt, Thomasson said he put the child to bed. He said when he returned to check on the child around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, he was stiff and shaking.

Thomasson is scheduled to appear in court July 6.
