CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Matthew Aubrey,25, held his estranged wife hostage last week. Now, he is facing more charges for the incident.

The hostage situation near Bowling Green, Ind. ended with one man in the hospital and Aubrey behind bars.

Aubrey is now charged with attempted murder.

Police said Aubrey found another man, 34-year-old Frank Ford, at his estranged wife's home. Then, police said Aubrey shot Ford.

Ford escaped, ran to a near-by home and called 911. Aubrey then held his wife hostage at gunpoint for nearly two hours before releasing her unharmed.

Several state troopers, deputies and officials were on the scene during the nearly four-hour standoff before Aubrey surrendered.

"Mr. Aubrey was not currently residing at that address. Mr. Aubrey had also been served with a protective order that had been granted by a court here in Clay County, which excluded him from having any direct or indirect contact with his spouse," Clay County Prosecutor Lee Reeberger said.

Aubrey was originally charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness. He also faces attempted murder, burglary resulting in bodily injury, criminal confinement, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.

Ford has been released from the hospital and is recovering.

Aubrey faces up to 50 years in prison and is being held in the Clay County jail with a bond set at $250,000.

Aubrey's pre-trial conference is slated for Oct. 19.
