BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) - When it comes to the flu, many people are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their family safe.

However, officials want you to be on the lookout.

That's because some people are taking your fears of getting the virus, and trying to make a buck.

You can find anything on the internet from generic Tamiflu to hair shampoo that's supposed to eliminate the H1N1 virus, but the experts News 10 talked to said that it's all a sham.

The Food and Drug Administration said these so called products are all "ineffective against the H1N1 virus."

They've even posted a complete listing of fraudulent products.

Local pharmacists said the method may be new, but the idea of scamming is pretty old.

"There's a lot of fear because there was a lot of hype by the government about this and a lot of concerns that it might be really bad. It hasn't turned out be that bad," Lynn Hostetler of Lynn's Pharmacy said.

The best to fight the flu, officials say, is by using common sense.
