TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - At a cost of $848 billion over 10 years, funds to pay for the proposed Senate health care bill will come in part from Medicare funding cuts and tax increases.

Similar to the proposed House bill, the proposed Senate bill requires all citizens to have coverage. Both bills have hurdles to go through before reaching the President, a process that could stretch into 2010.

"The Senate version may make it by Christmas," Indiana Republican Sen. Richard Lugar said. "That will require then a conference committee of the House and Senate. And only then, if both houses pass the bill, will the President be able to sign it."
