FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Just after 5 p.m. Sunday Indiana State Police said a 1993 Chevy Lumina didn't stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Washington Center and Butt Roads. A 2008 Buick Enclave hit the car.
Both vehicles ended up in the yard of a nearby house. The car hit the living room of the house. A 15-year-old boy was in the living room and was not hurt.
Crystal S. Chaney, 28, of Columbia City was driving the Lumina. She had a chest hematoma and sutures to her left leg.
The front seat passenger in Chaney's car was Jasmine R. Schwartz, 19, of Columbia City. She had a broken pelvis and minor cuts and contusions.
Her husband, Cody Schwartz, 20, of Larwill, was in the back seat. He complained of pain in various parts of the body.
Driving the SUV was Doyle W. Kincaid, 52, of Columbia City. He suffered contusions and complaint of pain.
The passenger in the SUV was Kristy J. Kincaid, 49, of Columbia City. She complained of pain to her entire body.
The three people in the car that hit the house were trapped inside until fire rescue units from the Arcola Fire Department pulled them out.
Lutheran Air and Parkview Samaritan both responded to take people to the hospital.
As of 11 p.m. Sunday, both Kincaids were released from the hospital. Cody Schwartz was listed in fair condition and Crystal Chaney was listed in stable condition. Jasmine Schwartz's condition was not available.
Chaney was cited for disregarding the stop sign, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and false and/or fictitious registration.
Everyone was wearing a seat belt. Police said they did help to lessen the injuries.
