TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A candidate launches his campaign for Indiana Secretary of State.
Thomas McKenna announced his candidacy for the Democratic party
nomination for the November 2010 election.
McKenna plans to stop in 11 cities across Indiana over the
next few days. He was in Terre Haute Tuesday evening.
McKenna said he's running for this position because he feels free access to voting is under attack in the state.
"I'm running for Secretary of State in order to make sure that every Hoosier who is qualified, everyone who registers, everyone who meets the residency requirements do not have false restrictions against their right to vote," McKenna said.
McKenna said it's important for people to have free access to voting because if they don't vote, they'll lose interest in the state government.
