TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Lunch with a purpose for about three dozen people in Terre Haute Monday afternoon.

School counselors, social workers and other community leaders held a Youth Worker Café at the Vigo County Library. A program director from Prevent Child Abuse Indiana spoke to those gathered about preventing child abuse. C.A.R.E. Council Chair Anita Lascelles said it's important to be more proactive and not waiting for abuse to happen.

"Responding as a community so we are nurturing children so that their emotional needs are met, so they can be better students at school," said Lascelles. "They grow up healthier and better members of our community."

The Youth Worker Café is a combination of the C.A.R.E. Council and a local network of youth workers organized by the Indiana Youth Institute.
