TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The Terre Haute Breakfast Optimist Club opens Christmas Tree lot with fundraiser to benefit area youth programs.

The group returned to its spot in the parking lot of Southland Shopping Center near the intersection of 7th St. and Margaret Avenue in Terre Haute.

Jeff Fisher, Optimist Club member and Terre Haute Fire Chief was on hand to help start the tree selling season. "All the proceeds and all the donations, and all the money we receive, we turn right around and give to kids of the community", said Fisher.

The Club's goal is to get money to Wabash Valley groups that need them the most.

"We support several different organizations: Ryves Hall, 14th and Chestnut, Boys and Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts, anything to do with kids. That's what the breakfast optimists are all about", said Fisher.

Terre Haute Breakfast Optimists have been selling trees at the Southland Shopping Center for over 30 years. The group plans to stay at its post on Terre Haute's southside until Christmas Eve; or all trees are sold out.
