Fatal Accident in Edgar County

OLIVER, Ill. (WTHI) - One person dies after a morning accident in Edgar County, Illinois.

It happened along Route 1, near Oliver, Illinois.

Anthony Eugene Hutchings, 23, of Paris, Illinois, died after the Ford Focus he was driving crossed the center lane of traffic for an unknown reason and collided with a tractor trailer.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Rodney Gray, 42, of Mattoon, was taken to Carle Hospital in Champaign to be treated for injuries.

A vehicle driving behind the Focus also recieved some damage, but no one in that vehicle was injured.

The road was closed for several hours this morning while crews cleaned up the accident scene, including diesel fuel that spilled out of the tractor trailer.
