Woman's Christmas decorations stolen

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Holly Carol Large loves Christmas.

"We still try to bring the spirit of Christmas to everybody for the enjoyment of it," Holly said.

For 25 years, Holly has elaborately decorated her home, a two month project, spending five or six hours per day, all for someone to rob that spirit.

"He says you need to come out with me, and I said oh what's the matter, he said all your reindeers are gone which really upset me."

Holly's decorations have been stolen or broken multiple times in years' past.

Most recently, wires were cut and items stolen.

"They're taking the spirit of what I'm doing away from me."

She says her decorating started with her mother and husband that have since passed away.

"I do this in memory of our loved ones and then we turn it around, try to continue it on, for everybody to come by and enjoy."

She says this year is probably the last that she'll go all out due to her age, cost and now, this incident.

"I will put something out if I have anything, you know if the thieves don't come back and take more, but my display says it all, peace on earth and I live with the spirit in my heart."

For Holly, it's about giving.

She does her best to keep her spirit high, in the midst of others trying to steal it away.

Holly has 17 grandchildren.

She says they especially enjoy the decorations.
