TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A woman was hospitalized after icy road conditions caused her vehicle to slide off the roadway and flip onto its side.
Vigo County Sheriff’s Deputies Bartlett and Taylor and emergency rescue crews responded to a call of a driver trapped in her car in a ditch.
According to the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, the deputies discovered Brandi Edwards was driving south bound on Houseman St. approaching Springhill Dr., when she encountered an icy patch of roadway.
Edwards lost control of the vehicle and was forced off the roadway into a ditch next to the railroad tracks. The vehicle’s momentum caused it to roll onto the driver’s side, which trapped Edwards inside.
Riley and Honey Creek rescue crews were able to free her from the wreck. She was transported to Union Hospital complaining of back and leg pain.
