Woman charged after Sunday fire

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Terre Haute woman faces arson charges in connection a house fire at 1519 North 26 th Street Sunday.

Gwendolyn Robins, 36, was arrested near the scene of the fire Sunday afternoon after she told police she had started the blaze.

According to police records, Robins told officers the house was her childhood home, that it had belonged to her grandmother and that “she did not want the Diablos (motorcycle gang) to get her grandmother’s house.”

Robins also told police that she wanted to take responsibility for starting the fire and that she hoped to get help with a drinking problem.

Robins faces a charge of arson, a B Felony, and was being held in the Vigo County Jail on $10,000 bond.
