TERRE HAUTE, IND. (WTHI) - An Indianapolis woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say she smuggled drugs into the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility on Sunday.

Authorities say 27-year-old Katrina Scott smuggled balloons filled with drugs into one of the visiting room at the facility. Scott had the drugs concealed in a small candy bag.

Scott passed the package on to 30 year old offender Coy Daniels. Custody staff intervened at that point and notified WVCF Internal Affairs and Indiana State Police.

Authorities say Scott hid the drugs behind a medical life support device.

Scott was taken to the Sullivan County Jail, facing preliminary felony charges of Trafficking with an Inmate, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamines and one misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana charge.

She was released due to a medical condition and will likely be in court this week.

Daniels swallowed some of the balloons in the package and was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment. He faces several conduct rule violations and will be placed in the facility infirmary for observation.

Daniels is serving a 79 year sentence from Marion County on Murder, Robbery, Battery and Cocaine Possession convictions. His earliest release date is November of 2034.
