TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - The suspect list is growing in the murder case of Albert Kiger, so the Vigo County Sheriff's Department has turned to the DNR for help in a water search.
In July, 59-year-old Albert Kiger was shot six times at his home on Robertson Road in southern Vigo County. Kiger later died.
According to police, earlier in the day, Kiger had also been stabbed in another incident.
Now, DNR divers are assisting in the search for the item used to stab Kiger, looking in bodies of water near where he was eventually killed.
Police said clues in Kiger's stabbing may lead to additional clues about his murder.
"He was involved in that seedy business of drug manufacturing and selling," Sheriff Jon Marvel said. "Even at that, that doesn't give anyone the right to take his life."
Because of the ongoing search, Sheriff Marvel could not say which bodies of water were being searched.
On Wednesday, Police continued their search for the clues into the Kiger stabbing. Police said that if anything is found, it will be sent to the Indiana State Police crime lab to determine if it was used in Kiger's murder.
