CARLISLE, Ind - 2012 marks the 20th year of proud service for the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility, going on line with its first offenders December 10, 1992.
The milestone was marked today in conjunction with Employee Recognition Day activities at the maximum-security facility, paying tribute to its over 600 staff members.
Department of Correction facilities across Indiana dedicate one week per year to both honor and thank the men and women who work in the challenging field of corrections.
Staff members receiving special recognition for their outstanding achievements over the past year included:
2011-2012 EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR:
HUGH DEAN (Sullivan County)
Maintenance Department
2011-2012 SUPERVISOR OF THE YEAR:
LT. KULDIP WADHWAN (Greene County)
2011-2012 OFFICER OF THE YEAR:
MONA GRIFFITH (Greene County)
2011-2012 ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:
JEREMIAH HALL (Sullivan County)
45 employees received five-year service pins, 24 staff members earned ten-year service awards and 30 marked 15 years of service. 30 staffers were honored for 20 years of service, 1 for 25 years on the job and 3 marked 30 years at their posts, protecting the public.
Superintendent Richard Brown offered his congratulations to Wabash Valley employees for their service, saying, “You are to be commended for your public service and on the job professionalism every day of the year. You maintain public safety, dealing with challenging situations in an efficient and effective manner. You are committed to preparing offenders for a successful return to society. You have my thanks and deep respect.”
Special displays in commemoration of 20th anniversary will be featured along with drawings for WVCF 20th Anniversary shirts and more. Retirees have also been invited to join the celebration, take part in a special luncheon, games and tour along with family and friends.
The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility houses over 2,100 offenders on a 340 acre site in Sullivan County, Indiana.
