TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Downtown Terre Haute streets were filled with a little more orange Sunday morning.

Volunteers with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Indiana State Chapter painted the Multiple Sclerosis logo at 5th Street and Wabash Avenue.

It is an effort to raise awareness, funds, and to kick off the annual Walk MS event.

"A lot of times, it's one of those kinds of silent diseases that you don't always see the effects of. And so we really want to raise awareness that this is something that affects people in this community and throughout the Wabash Valley, and so we thought that by painting the street, that would be a great way to do that," National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Indiana State Chapter Public Relations Marketing Manager Amanda Shelley said.

The walk is September 15th.
